Start with a Private factory tour and museum of the historic C. F. Martin Guitar Co. followed by a nouveau chic lunch with a casual tavern ambiance at the haunted [b]Widow’s Tavern and Grille
just a few minutes away for some great food and conversation.

The sights and sounds and fine wood fragrances of the famous guitar factory will be in full production as we wander through on our own private guided tour. Modern day luthiers will be engaged in the arts of cutting, planing, forming and shaping fine stringed instruments in the original 1833 factory. This is not some museum re-creation, this is the world's number one maker of flat-top guitars in real-time production!

Every year thousands of people visit the C. F. Martin Guitar museum and factory to hear, touch, smell and feel an important part of American music history and to witness the time-honored tradition of fine musical instrument craftsmanship. This is a special tour for writers, researchers and photographers so bring your camera and notebooks, but leave your strobes and tripods at home. Flash photography is prohibited, as are sound and video recording. Cell phones, also are forbidden during the tour.

There are no free samples at the end of this tour, but you will be able to actually pick and strum some high-end and limited edition guitars. Let’s see what you can do! You’ll find more than 200 rare and vintage instruments on display; a collection of historical instruments, memorabilia, photographs and other objects that tell the Martin story—past and present—and their commitment to keeping the music alive.

Christian Frederick Martin established the company in 1833. In 1900 they produced 182 instruments. In 2000 they made over 24,000 and in 2004 they built their millionth guitar which is worth an estimated $1,000,000. It is purely hand crafted and has more than 40 rubies and diamonds encrusted into it. The current chairman and CEO, C.F. 'Chris' Martin IV, the great-great-great-grandson of the founder carries on the companys name and traditions.

Just a few notable musicians who play(ed) and own(ed) Martin Guitars:

After the factory tour and museum, we'll head over to The Widow’s Tavern & Grille in Stockertown, just about 10 minutes away. The Widow's Tavern has great food, wonderful ambiance and some unusual history of it's own!

Marvin Still Haunts The Widow's Tavern. The resident ghost (Marvin), at The Widow’s Tavern & Grille, was the innkeeper in the time when the the old stagecoach stop was an inn of somewhat ill repute. It is told that he had an affair with one of the “house ladies” and then was jilted. One version of the story says that he
killed her, and then hung himself in the hotel. Over the years, there have been many “Marvin-Like-Sightings" John Nyari and his father were the owners of Widows and recant the story of the staff members working one night who saw a white shadow descending the steps.

And then the waitress, Connie Bath who recalls the eerie experience of three waitresses working
on the same Valentine night who each reported mysterious blood splotchesREAD MORE
